Meet Our Team

Amneris Torres, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I believe people have the power to help themselves — I’m just here to help you unlock it. Starting therapy isn’t easy, and it takes courage to take that first step. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, or just know something needs to change, you’ve come to the right place.

My work is rooted in a person-centered approach, which means our sessions are built around you — your goals, your pace, and what matters most to you. I work best with adolescents, young adults, and families who are ready to do the work and want someone in their corner to challenge and support them along the way.

I have a particular passion for working with first-generation students, international students, and Latinx clients navigating the unique pressures of balancing cultural expectations with personal identity. As a bilingual therapist fluent in both English and Spanish, I am committed to providing culturally responsive care that honors your full experience.

Together, we will work on the things that truly matter — whether that’s managing anxiety, building healthier relationships, finding balance after burnout, or figuring out who you are and where you’re going. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. Therapy is effective whether it’s brief or long-term, and I’ll meet you wherever you are.

I offer both in-person (Farmington location) and virtual sessions and welcome individuals and families.

Culturally Responsive Therapy for Marginalized Communities

Finding a therapist who truly gets your experience — not just professionally, but personally — makes all the difference. If you’ve ever walked into a room and felt like you had to explain yourself before you could even get to the real work, I want this to feel different.

I am deeply committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care for clients from marginalized backgrounds, including BIPOC individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, Latinx communities, and those navigating the intersection of multiple identities. Mental health care has not always been accessible or welcoming to everyone, and I take that seriously. My goal is to create a space where your full self is not just accepted but genuinely understood.

Together, we can explore the ways that systemic stress, cultural expectations, family dynamics, and identity shape your mental health and your day-to-day life. We don’t have to separate who you are from what you’re going through — in fact, that’s often where the most meaningful work happens.

I approach every client with curiosity, humility, and a commitment to meeting you where you are. Whether you’re processing experiences of discrimination, navigating bicultural identity, managing the weight of generational expectations, or simply looking for a therapist who won’t require you to code-switch, I’m here for it.

You deserve care that reflects your reality. Let’s build something that actually fits your life.

Therapy for College Students & Young Adults

The college years and early adulthood can feel exciting and overwhelming all at once. You’re expected to have it together — the grades, the social life, the career plan — while quietly managing anxiety, self-doubt, and the pressure of figuring out who you are. If it feels like everyone else has it figured out except you, I want you to know: they don’t, and you’re not alone.

I specialize in working with college students, emerging adults, and first-generation students who are navigating one of the most pivotal seasons of life. Whether you’re dealing with academic stress, difficult family expectations, identity questions, or the isolating experience of being far from home, therapy can be a space where you don’t have to perform or pretend.

For first-generation and international students especially, the pressures can be layered in ways that others simply don’t see. You may be carrying the weight of your family’s hopes while simultaneously trying to find your own footing. I understand that experience, and I bring both cultural humility and lived understanding to our work together.

My approach is direct, practical, and grounded in what actually helps — solution-focused strategies, mindfulness tools, and motivational techniques that translate into real life. We’ll work on building confidence, managing anxiety, strengthening your sense of self, and developing the coping skills that carry you beyond college and into the life you’re building..
